Contest

By now you've probably finished off the bag of coffee you received (or in my case, emptied out several) and maybe even cast on with your yarn. And you are probably thinking that the fun is over until your next package arrives in January. But if so, you'd be wrong, because now its time for a contest! When I saw this coffee themed fabric on one of my many recent trips to the fabric store (several of this year's Christmas gifts are sewn) I couldn't resist buying a bit to make coasters. The coasters are crazy quilted out of 100% cotton with a layer of batting to make them heat and moisture absorbent. I'm going to divide the 4 coasters into two sets so that we can have two winners, so each winner will receive two coasters.

To enter, leave a comment on this post sharing with us your ideal coffee sipping scenario. It can be every-day ordinary or something that would only happen in a dream, use your imagination. This Friday we will randomly pick two winners from the comments.

Contest is only open to current Sip n Stitch members. You can leave as many comments as you want, but you'll only be entered in the drawing once.

  1. Mmm, ideal coffee moment... it's a snowy day in a big European city (probably either Berlin or London), and I found the perfect little cafe with big windows to a busy shopping street. I've snagged a comfy seat by the window, ordered the perfect cup of cappucchino and a plate of cinnamon biscuits, and just get to enjoy the peoplewatching as everyone rushes to complete their Christmas shopping. While secretly taking notes on what people are wearing, because despite having grown up in Europe, I've lost all sense of European dressing, and I need to get it back :-)

  2. My ideal (and totally imaginary)coffee sipping scenario would have me sitting on the deck of my house on Kauai watching the sunrise.

  3. My usual coffee drinking is done in front of the computer while catching up on LiveJournal, Facebook, Ravelry, Plurk and Emails.

I also enjoy a cup sitting outside on a warm summer morning before everyone else is up. I love quiet, peaceful mornings.

  4. I loved drinking coffee at cafes in Paris on our honeymoon. Strong coffees in little cups, with delicious bakery alongside. I hope that someday I'll be able to do it again.

More recently, any time I can have some coffee with a buddy, I'm thrilled. It's a rare day that I'd turn down a coffee date.

  5. With my family in Cape Town, sitting in the botanical gardens at Kirstenbosch, watching the dragonflies and humming birds, surrounded by exquisite flora and catching up on goings-on in the sunshine.

  6. Mine would be a summer morning in Finland. My mom's balcony looks out at a lake and the sun would be warming me up just right while our German Shepherd Mocca would be snoozing next to me while I knit.

I can't wait to go visit again. :)

  7. I'll get mine in a few weeks- sitting in a warm cozy room gazing out at sunrise over the ocean in Maine on New Year's Day. It's a great way to start the new year.

  8. Mine is drinking a bowl of cafe au lait for breakfast, in a cafe in Paris. Sitting with a bunch of friends and not being in a hurry at all.

  9. My ideal is sitting on my new deck after a luxurious sleep-in. Admittedly right now my deck is covered in snow and the house is in chaos as we unpack, but a girl can dream :)

  11. With imagination as the limit I could sit here writing coffee sipping scenarios until morning, but I'll just share the first one that I thought of. This is a real life coffee sipping scenario, but right now it feels more like a dream, a book, a movie or something. Outside my window tonight it is dark, there's snow on the ground and the temperature is well below zero. My coffee sipping moment took place in Greece, in a village square with giant trees in the northern part of Chios. I was there with my SO, in late summer, and had made a stop on our way back from a visit to an amazing beach. I was way out of proportion proud about ordering in Greek and making sure the SO got milk in his nescafe, while had the Greek coffee that I only like when actually in Greece. Next to the square was a church, where a funeral would take place a bit later. Around us in the square, people from the cafés that were there, were busy setting up tables and preparing for a crowd. We enjoyed sitting there trying to understand what was going on. But as more and more clues suggested that the church and the square would soon be filled with people attending the funeral, we finished our coffee and prepared to leave, not wanting to intrude. We have often joined in or watched celebrations, but sad or deeply personal events should be for those who are involved or invited. We left a tip for the waitress who had been kind and patient enough to try to understand my clumsy Greek, and not switch to English.

  12. I love a day when I'm home alone with our four adult cats and some number of foster kittens, with the weather cool to cold. I can walk into the kitchen and make myself a large cup of coffee, using a flavored non-dairy creamer or maybe evaporated milk. Then I take my cup into my office, where I can work on my knitting and read Ravelry. Usually there's a few kittens playing around somewhere in the office and that warms my heart and amuses me. I'm gonna get to do this more often this winter than usual, as we're expecting a cooler than normal winter and I'm looking forward to it!

  13. The steam is rising from my hot cup of coffee and the lake that I love as I sit on the deck with my knitting in hand enjoying the peace and quiet.

  14. Dream ideal? The coffee is Jamacia Blue Mountain. Across the table sits Elizabeth Zimmerman, enjoying her coffee and some delightful sugar cookies, while working away on this elaborate lace shawl. She talks about all the tricks she's picked up for knitting lace, and I tell her about all the innovations, like Ravelry, that entered the knitting world after she left us. She asks G-d for Internet access, so He sets her up with a terminal and she sets up a Ravelry account and starts trolling knitting blogs. Then J.R.R. Tolkien comes over, curious about the whole Internet thing, so another few terminals appear, and I pour him some coffee and show him all the LoTR fan sites. By the end of the pot (which never gets cold or empties--heaven is like that) we've got William Blake starting a poetry blog with William Shakespeare (at Will-and-Bill.hev) and DaVinci taking a virtual tour of the MoMa.

  15. My perfect coffee sipping scenario recently has been the 5-10 minutes that I get in the morning (occasionally) when my coffee is still warm and I can sit-undisturbed-and play on my computer. I know that isn't really exciting but quiet time when I'm not responsible for other people's needs is quite wonderful right now!
